Julian Trevelyan was a talented painter and printmaker at the forefront of the British avant-garde in the 1930s as part of the English Surrealist Group.  In 1951 he married the artist Mary Fedden and went on to teach at Chelsea School of Art as well as the Royal College of Art. He was made an Hon. Senior RA in 1986.  His work is held in many prestigious private and public collections, including the Tate Collection, London, and the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
