Lin Kerr explores and exploits oil paints in layers of scratching back and adding marks and forms, using a variety of tools and often just fingers or a palette knife to manipulate the paint. She often works over a background of text which is physically integrated yet stylistically juxtaposed adding contemplation. She does figurative paintings, landscapes and organic stylised paintings. All her landscapes, often understated and generic. originate from her observation, usually from Oxfordshire.
Her background is deeply rooted in fine arts, with a BA fine Art degree in oil painting and after many years in graphic design and teaching, she has recently returned to oils. She works and teaches from her Oxfordshire studio, Limetrees Studio, 17 miles from Oxford and runs courses at Ardington School and Oxford Summer School.
