Established in 1886, Bembridge Sailing Club, situated in Bembridge Harbour on the Isle of Wight is one of the oldest sailing clubs in the United Kingdom. As a frequent visitor to the Isle of Wight, its beautiful vistas across on the eastern end of the Island and Solent approaches were irresistible to Maze who had sailed around Cape Horn aboard The Celtic Burn, a four-masted barque, at the age of twenty five.
