Victor Pasmore started off as a highly naturalistic painter, and member of the Euston Road Group. He made a radical shift in 1948 towards abstraction and a transitionary work from this period can also be seen in Oxford at the Pembroke College JCR collection. Pasmore embraced abstraction and produced relief constructions from 1951-63. By 1965 his international reputation was secured and he was given a retrospective exhibtion at the Tate. His work is currently the subject of another retrospective exhibition taking place at Pallant House, Sussex.
