Colour lithographic poster printed for an exhibition of Atelier Mourlot prints in Tokyo at Seibu Department Stores, 1984. This is one of a collection of lithographs published for "50 Years of Lithography at Atelier Mourlot" at Seibu- the other prints are by Picasso, Mirò, Léger and Braque. Originally appearing on the 1952 Mourlot Centennial Exhibition poster, Matisse created this colourfully rhythmic composition from cut paper before transferring it to lithographic stones at the Mourlot studio.
