This sensational lithographic poster was published in 1962 to encourage visits to the French Riviera, where Picasso lived for so long. He arrived there by train in the 30s, running away from city life in Paris which crushed his creative spirit. The azure waters of the coast revived him so much that within a year, in 1937, he painted his masterpiece "Guernica". In 1957 he painted "The Studio (Pigeons)"- used to great effect for this poster-showcasing the coast's blue sea and lush greenery.
