Winston Spencer Churchill was born 30 November 1874 at Blenheim Palace, the home of his grandfather, John, 7th Duke of Marlborough. It is not surprising that the interior and exterior of Blenheim Palace and its grounds were the subjects of Churchill's paintings.

This work depicts Cannon point which is on the edge of the Great Lakes and is viewed from the west side of the bridge. Other works of Blenheim by Churchill are on display in the dedicated Churchill Exhibition.
