Colour lithographic poster by Jean Cocteau, a French avant-garde poet, playwright and artist. This poster was designed for an exhibition of his experimental ceramics in Villefranche-sur-Mer. During his career, Cocteau made more than three hundred ceramic pieces at the workshop of Madeline Jolly, famously alikening the colour of skin to the pink colour of clay on which he 'tattooed' his drawings. Entitled 'Astrologie', the surreal design in this poster was later transferred to an earthenware dish.
