This month we are celebrating neurodiversity at Zuleika Gallery as we explore the work of Alice Irwin and in whose work the concept of art as non-verbal communication is highly prescient. As a result of her dyslexia, Irwin has used art to create a unique, personal visual language which uses figurative shapes to create stories and characters that aim to bring people together. They encourage viewers to take a step out of normality and step into an imaginary world. She works in sculpture and printmaking. To find out more about Alice and her work, we are holding a zoom conversation with artist Rachel Gracey RE, also a printmaker, but who started out in her career as a sculptor. Rachel sought to develop her own artistic language through lithography - a challenging and physical medium that allows her to engage with space by deconstructing three dimensionality onto the different planes provided by the plates. How artists’s find their voices and the technique they use for their own visual languages will be explored in this conversation.
Join Alice Irwin & Rachel Gracey RE for a Zoom In Conversation on Thursday, 14 September at 6pm. Please, register by clicking at the link below if you wish to join us.
