Ian Davenport is an internationally recognised abstract artist who studied at Goldsmiths College School of Art from 1985-8 and exhibited in the notorious 'Frieze' exhibition with Damien Hirst in 1988. He is considered to be part of the 'YBA' generaltion (Young British Artists) and in 1991 was nomiated for the Turner Prize. His paintings involve pouring paint from a small scaffold using a vessel with an adjustable head to regulate the breadth of each pour. He has exhibited internationally and received worldwide recognition for his work, with public commissions include London's Southwark Street (2006) and a temporary Olympic Games installation that was housed outside of the Tate in 2012.
