We are delighted to announce Abstract Allies, an exhibition of abstract art, selected by celebrated collector Tim Sayer MBE and Zuleika's director Lizzie Collins. The exhibition will be opened by former BBC radio news reader Charlotte Green.
Tim Sayer, who was a BBC Radio News journalist for 40 years, has been avidly collecting art since 1962 and recently he and his wife Annemarie Norton bequeathed their entire collection of over 700 works to The Hepworth Wakefield in West Yorkshire. Sir Nicholas Serota described the gift as “one of the most significant and generous donations to a regional gallery in the UK” and noted that it reflected the “discriminating eye of a person of modest means”.
Abstract Allies includes the work of painters, sculptors and ceramicists such as Naum Gabo, Trevor Sutton, Willard Boepple, Nadine Bell, Nigel Hall, Manijeh Yadegar, Ander Gunn, Frances Aviva Blane, Rebecca Salter, Martha Green Doran, Kenneth Martin, Kathleen Hyndman, Sam Zealey, Liz West, Lucie Rie and Howard Hodgkin.
