This rare lithographic poster is steeped in history. In 1949, author Louis Aragon (1897-1982) chose Picasso's lithograph 'La Colombe' (The Dove) for posters commemorating the first peace conference in Paris. A dove was appropriate, already a symbol of tranquility, and Picasso's unique take on the bird was joyfully received. Picasso's dove caught on and in the years that followed the artist agreed to provide more for peace conferences across Europe, including this 1962 edition.
