This classic cubist lithograph is from the portfolio "Papiers Collés" by Picasso, published by Pont des Arts. This portfolio was published in 1966 to commemorate the generous donation of the Picasso collages to the Musée d'Art Moderne in Paris. Picasso's 1914 Glass and Bottle of Straw Rum shares this prints name, with one exeption-this print includes "The Newspaper" in its title. A newspaper does feature in the 1914 work, but is arguably more instrumental in this image, its warm colour evocative of the titular rhum paillée, or oak rhum (literally "straw rum").
