This print, along with Screen E, derives from Japanese paper screens that are moveable and semi-transparent. This is a monoprint, so a unique work, that is made with an individually painted ground worked directly onto a screen and then printed. Then come several over-printings using a series of silkscreens, with opaque and semi transparent colours, echoing perhaps the moveable flexibility of Japanese screens.
