'I’ve always felt that contemporary art is much better suited to children than it is to adults. Because adults bring so many preconceived ideas and fears about art, whereas children react in a much more visceral, immediate way. The best artists should have their work seen in schools. It totally makes sense. My print is almost like an illustration from a book. It’s meant to make little kids smile’ Jeremy Deller
Deller won the Turner Prize in 2004, and in 2010 was awarded the Albert Medal of the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures & Commerce (RSA). Much of Deller's work is collaborative; it has a strong political aspect, in the subjects dealt with, and the devaluation of artistic ego through the involvement of other people in the creative process. From 2007 to 2011, Deller served as a Trustee of the Tate Gallery.
