Colour lithographs on wove paper, signed in pencil, size 18 x 12 ins, with margins. Published by the Redfern in 1953, Vaughan's first lithograph was catalogued by Nan Kivell as The Woodman when in 1953 it formed part of his gift of over a thousand contemporary British prints to New Zealand art galleries. The rounded head and flattened nose of the subject suggest Vaughan'a model was John McGuiness. The Millers Press was the creation of sisters Caroline Lucas and Frances Byng-Stamper in 1945 and they collaborated with the Redfern Gallery in 1948 to establish the Society of London Painter-Printers.
